Itchy Pig Records release the ‘Growing History’ EP by Sir Vinyl Instinct featuring two reworks from 20:20 Vision artist Moodymanc

‘Growing History’ embodies the spirit of 90′s house music and pioneering labels like Prescription and Balance Alliance. Employing conventional tactics and elements to create soul laden house music, ethereal pads lead the way whilst broken percussion carries operative movement. The track blossoms with the use of a wonderfully crafted synth shot melody creating a tracky energetic composition. The use of two bell chimes creeping in sporadically set a further dreamy tone for the duration while plays on the atmospheric background aesthetics brew tension.

Accomplished artist Moodymanc steps in to rework ‘Growing History’ providing two alternate versions. ‘Moodymanc’s Dark Past’ mix is warm and organic a sound often associated with the Manchester based producer. Playing down the airy feel of the original and opting to add some extra weight, solid drums and earthy percussion drives alongside the addition of a gritty electronic bass hook, the prominent synth stab is them re-sampled to create a fresh melody entirely, the mature touches and tight production results in as the name suggest a ‘dark’ late night bloomer.

Moodymanc’s ‘Happy Memories Mix’ closes the release, utilizing bright chord hits, a smooth warm pad line and perpetual woodblock percussion. The 20:20 Soundsystem drummer employs his love of natural drum breaks in the composition with tom-tom and snare rolls, creating musical interjections in the rolling sequence. The addition of a low-end bass hook further compliments the cut and it’s certainly a perfect mix for early hours dance floor mechanics.
