Undulate Recordings
Being a relatively small label ourselves we appreciate how tough it is to make a name for yourselves out there. Add this to the fact that there are more labels and releases than there are Halloween sequels (and I’m sorry to say, a very large majority of those ‘releases’ lack that very idea of what music is about) and you have the makings to make it really difficult to get your sounds recognised by the public domain.
Which is why I am the first to both admire and promote the underdog – the very same that are (or was) in my very situation. We for one are very blessed to have some incredible recognition early on which is why I will always be willing to share that attention to artists and talent that grab my attention – most recently being Undulate Recordings based in New York.
I came across the label very recently from my usual musical introduction – mainly from me grovelling people to listen to our stuff. We chatted with the man behind the project Billy (also co-run Al Alvarez) and I asked him to send me some stuff… and boy I’m glad they did.
House music developed for one reason and one reason only… to dance. Add to that concoction some heart, soul and attention to detail (not to mention undeniable taste) and you have one hell of a platform. The fact of the matter is that these guys have exactly that. Their latest release, Pawas, is derived from a timeless idea that tracks should sound as that… timeless. Each original and remix is astounding and is suited for most geographical dancefloors – my favourite being the Flying Drum original although they all certainly have their place.
With early Support from the likes of Luciano, Huxley, DJ T, Luciano, James Teej, Jeremy P Caufield, Okain, Maceo Plex, Andre Lodemann, Jeremy P Caufield, The Revenge, Laura Jones, Dualton, Art Department, Swag, Halo Varga, Varoslav, Chris Carrier, and Paul Loraine goes to show the level of soul that has been put into these productions.
Do yourself and this label a favour and get it bought. You and your listeners will undoubtedly be grateful. It is an utterly astounding release. Wax fans, show your support!
